Fort Clinch State Park

Part of the Florida State Parks system, Fort Clinch is one of the most well-preserved Civil War era forts in the country. It was used as a garrison during that war and the Spanish-American War, but no battles were ever fought there. Today, visitors can tour the Fort, where costumed re-enactors bring the past to life. You can also enjoy the beaches and half-mile long fishing pier, or try the Park's surf fishing. There are 6 miles of hiking and biking trails, plus picnic tables and a playground.

FAQs

  • What should I bring to the Park?

What are your plans for your Fort Clinch visit? If it's the beach, bring sand toys, towels, swim suits and sunscreen. A picnic is always a good thing. For hikers, solid hiking boots and water are a must. Bikers will of course want their bicycles, and fishermen and women their tackle and gear. Cash for the entry fees is important. The Visitor Center store offers snacks and souvenirs.
  • Are pets allowed in the Park?

Yes. Well-behaved dogs are welcome, and must be on a 6-foot leash at all times. Please do not leave your pets unattended for more than 30 minutes. Dogs are not allowed to be on the beach, boardwalk or in buildings, and that includes the Fort.
