Amelia Island History

Located in historic downtown Fernandina Beach, the Amelia Island Museum of History is the place to go for local lore. It is the first "spoken history museum" in Florida, with a rich storytelling tradition.  The Museum boasts fascinating permanent exhibits like the Discovery Ship, which appeals to children with its hands-on activities. Learn about the Native Americans of the island, the Timucuan, and see historic artifacts about Nassau County, the Civil War and the Spanish Missions of La Florida.
