Amanda's Winning Story:"I have always loved Fernandina Beach. When I was a little girl, my family would vacation there and I have so many fond memories of collecting pretty shells and shark teeth along the beach. I always dreamed of getting married barefoot on the beach with the lovely sand dunes, sea oats, and the sound of ocean waves in the background.
My dream is finally coming true this summer. My fiance, Daniel, proposed to me in such a romantic setting at a beautiful square in Savannah after a candlelight dinner. He knew how much I love my grandmother and that she had given me her engagement ring when I was sixteen. Many times I would admire the ring and think of the memories it held for my grandmother. My grandmother was such a dynamic force in my life and I loved her very much. She recently died and never had the chance to meet my fiance. Somehow, in my heart, I feel she would be so happy for me that I have finally found the man of my dreams.
Daniel knew that I wanted to wear my grandmother's ring as my engagement ring. He managed to sneak the ring from my jewelry box. As the moon shown through the Spanish moss from the giant oak tree, Daniel presented the ring to me on bended knee at Johnson Square in Savannah. Although my grandmother will not be present for my marriage, her spirit and her ring will always be with me."
